What a nice surprise in between the Avengers and Camries! It's got a backup camera, Bluetooth audio, and a great interior. Fuel mileage is excellent with the Skyactiv four banger. Also pretty fun to toss around (especially for a crossover!)

Pull towards to upshift, push away to downshift. Thank you Mazda!

It's refreshing to see a family crossover that is still genuinely involving and engaging to drive. For that, Mazda, I applaud you.

Had any good rental cars lately?

I just thought about, the last time my family rented a car was in 2005. It was a white Malibu Classic.

That's identical to ours except for color. We love it!

Yep, we've had our 14 GT for about a year and we love it! Way better than the rav4 and crv we looked at.

We drove the Hyundai Tucson and I did like it, but I liked the driving dynamics and the fuel enconomy of the CX-5. Plus, I am a longtime Mazda owner and loyalist myself, so I was pushing for the CX-5, anyway.

Ours is a Sport, and its only options are the roof rack and Bluetooth. But we didn't really need all of the other stuff, anyway. But I still wish we'd have spring for a Grand Touring with AWD.

I'm not positive about the packages in the US, but did your rental come with the 2.5L?

I'm pretty sure ours is the 2.0 since it has Skyactiv badging and is getting 37 mpg on our trip so far.

We love it! I'm not sure how the packages work; ours is AWD but not a Grand Touring.

Gotcha, we got ours used with only 10k miles on it, so that's why we got one basically fully loaded. It was about $3-4k off new msrp. Otherwise, we probably would have just gotten a sport as well.

For 2013, the only engine available was the 2.0. For 2014, the 2.5 is standard on all but the base model (the Sport). The Sport still has the 2.0.
